Below is a sample day the meal plan within the Gastric Band Nutrition Essential, which will equate to approximately 1000-1200 calories.

Meal 1

  • ¼ cup toasted muesli (choose the varieties with dried fruit, they are fine and tastier)
  • Low fat milk (250ml) or yoghurt (200gm low fat & low sugar)

Meal 2

  • 1 slice of bread (or for a carbohydrate free approach skip the bread)
  • Use low-fat condiments in place of margarine.
  • (1-2) Scrambled egg
  • ¼ avocado
  • Desired salad ingredients(diced up finely)

Afternoon Tea

  • 200 gm low-fat and low-sugar yoghurt / 250ml milk drink such as latte/1 handful of fruit

Meal 3

  • Stir fried vegetables (cut up into small pieces)
  • Slithers of meat / chicken / tofu (up to palm size quantity)

 

Supper

  • 200 gm low-fat and low-sugar yoghurt / 250ml milk drink such as latte/1 handful of fruit

 

Mid meal snacks are dependent of an individuals level of exercise and variability of appetite, just like pre-surgery.  It does help to make your diet more nutritionally adequate
